Yesterday I wrote about public services being funded by private donations. As a follow-up, I note that a working group, in charge of determining how Finnish EMS helicopter services should be financed, today has recommended that such services should be publicly funded by the year 2010.
According to the Ministry of the Interior press release, flight operations are currently paid for by Finnish slot machine and casino monopoly Raha-automaattiyhdistys. However, this would seem to be quite a generalisation - flight operators such as Medi-Heli and Sepe appeal to the public for money towards that same purpose.
What do you think - how should EMS helicopter services be financed? Who should pay, and how?
