I recently mentioned that the web site for the newsgroup news.newusers.questions (nnq) would be moving to a new home. Well, that site is now live, so please update your links and bookmarks.
Changes include:
- I am trying to edit the articles towards a common terminology and style, so that they will be easily understandable as a whole.
- Some topics have been discussed on several pages, by different authors; in such cases I try to improve on one location, while replacing the others with hyperlinks to that page.
- Lots of information regarding e.g. groups and hierarchies has been updated.
I hope you’ll use and enjoy the new nnq site. Any and all feedback is welcome; please post it to the newsgroup.
A participant asked whether the newsgroup is being replaced by a web site. Absolutely not! The moderation board wants everyone to be able to continue reading nnq, and posting to nnq. The role of the web site is to support the newsgroup, just as before.
Coming up: we are replacing Robbie, the presby.edu moderation robot, with a new one. Consequently, I expect to shortly announce (in nnq) some technical changes in how nnq is moderated. Posting should not be affected.
