The collective bargaining over the wage solution of Finland’s ICT sector, between the Union of Salaried Employees (TU) and the Employers’ Association TIKLI, has today ended in disagreement.

The TU has declared a ban on overtime, affecting some 10 000 white-collar workers, effective immediately. The overtime ban also means no standby on call, nor any other telephone consultations after hours. Additionally, the TU executive committee will convene 16 Oct 2007 to decide on upgrading the overtime ban to a full-out strike.
As I receive part of my income from working as a system specialist, I might participate in the strike, something I’m not exactly looking forward to. I say “might” because I never really have been on strike, as my jobs always have been outside the strike limits, for safety or security reasons.
Do you anticipate being affected by industrial action soon? Have you been on strike yourself, and would like to share those experiences? Please post your comment!
