Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) has released their official comments on Microsoft’s (NASDAQ: MSFT) bid for Yahoo (NASDAQ: YHOO).
The statement, signed by senior VP and chief legal officer David Drummond, views Microsoft’s bid as hostile. Google asks whether Microsoft is going to “attempt to exert the same sort of inappropriate and illegal influence over the Internet that it did with the PC”, and to take advantage of their PC software monopoly to unfairly limit the ability of consumers to freely access competitors’ email, IM, and web-based services.
What do you think - will the deal go through? If it does, what will happen in the long run? Are Google’s fears warranted? Please post your comments!
