Do you use Microsoft® Office Excel® 2003 SP 2 or 3? Did you apply last week’s security update MS08-014? If so, you may want to get the new update version that was released today.
The original version did protect against the security issue it was designed to fix. However, it may also, under certain circumstances, cause calculation errors. Not all users are affected; according to Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), the error is triggered when a Real Time Data source is used in a user-defined Visual Basic for Applications function.
The new patch is released through the same channels as the original one, including Microsoft Update.
For Apple users, today’s patch news includes Apple Security Update 2008-002 and Apple Safari 3.1.
