Temporary changes in Sweden’s coast radio

The main exchange for the Swedish maritime VHF network is being moved to another location. Because of this work, VHF traffic is instead passed over a backup exchange, with reduced capacity, between 31 March and 6 April 2008.

Effects include the following:

  • Channels 16 and 70 will be watched with slightly limited capacity.
  • Duplex service, navigational and gale warnings, as well as weather and ice information, is available only through 17 stations, not 58, as usual.
  • The waiting time when calling VTS or pilots may be somewhat longer than normal.
