The main exchange for the Swedish maritime VHF network is being moved to another location. Because of this work, VHF traffic is instead passed over a backup exchange, with reduced capacity, between 31 March and 6 April 2008.
Effects include the following:
- Channels 16 and 70 will be watched with slightly limited capacity.
- Duplex service, navigational and gale warnings, as well as weather and ice information, is available only through 17 stations, not 58, as usual.
- The waiting time when calling VTS or pilots may be somewhat longer than normal.
