The Finnish police have established a PIRT, tasked with improving the prevention, detection and management of serious information security incidents. The PIRT, which consists of specialists from throughout the administration of internal affairs, also aims to develop international cooperation, and to improve national security. The team is to exchange information with other national and international actors, including CERTs.
The information systems of the police and the internal affairs administration contain information that materially affects the legal protection of staff and citizens. According to the police, unauthorised handling or altering of such information might cause life-threatening situations.
