F-Secure hotfix removes network connectivity, is recalled

F-Secure logoThe hotfix fsav840-02, which F‑Secure released on 15 October 2009, inadvertently places the product in network quarantine mode if this feature is enabled. This effectively means that the system on which the hotfix is installed no longer can connect to the network at large, only to the Policy Manager and the update servers.

F‑Secure instructs users to refrain from installing the hotfix. Those who have installed it can restore network connectivity by using Policy Manager to disable the network quarantine and to redistribute the policy.

The hotfix and the quarantine issue apply to the F‑Secure products Client Security 8.00–8.01, Anti-Virus for Workstations 8.00 and Anti-Virus for Servers 8.00–8.01. F‑Secure expects to release a fixed hotfix at the end of week 43.
